The Slovak Social Insurance Company Has Moved Some Business Services Online

01.10.2026

In mid-September 2026, the Slovak Social Insurance Company (Sociálna poisťovňa) expanded its range of electronic services for employers, self-employed individuals (SZČO), and other insurance contribution payers. Now, some duties can be performed online without visiting a branch, and when applying for certain benefits, employers will no longer have to repeatedly confirm the same data.

What changes for businesses

Sociálna poisťovňa has expanded the functionality of the electronic service “Insurance Contribution Payer” (Odvádzateľ poistného). Now, registration will be available online, and within the service itself, employers will also be able to register their first employee.

The service will still allow remote fulfilment of basic obligations to the Social Insurance — for example, submitting reports on insurance contributions. This applies not only to employers but also to self-employed individuals (SZČO) and voluntarily insured persons.

Additionally, Sociálna poisťovňa’s electronic services now include a payment system for insurance contributions and debts. It is available to employers, while SZČO and voluntarily insured persons can use it through the Social Insurance mobile app.

Another new feature is the electronic request for a certificate of debt presence or absence. The document can be obtained for another organisation or for personal needs without physically visiting a Sociálna poisťovňa branch.

Moreover, the Social Insurance has expanded electronic interaction with employers when processing payments for accident insurance and guaranteed insurance. This should reduce the time for processing applications and the volume of administrative work.

Changes also affect sick leave benefits. Employers will no longer have to confirm the same data for each payment — confirmation will only be required in certain cases at the request of Sociálna poisťovňa.

Other changes

In total, the Social Insurance has launched 36 new or updated digital solutions for citizens and employers. Sociálna poisťovňa clients have gained access to 25 electronic applications for major types of benefits, including pregnancy, maternity, family care, unemployment, and various types of pensions.

One of the most notable changes is the proactive assignment of pregnancy and maternity benefits. In most cases, a separate application will no longer be required if a doctor enters pregnancy data into the electronic system. The Social Insurance will be able to independently verify the right to payment and assign it. The transition of medical institutions to the new system should be completed by 31 January 2027.

Changes have also affected pension applications: applications can be submitted electronically, with some data being filled in automatically. The Social Insurance will also be able to independently obtain information from the bank about the account to which the pension is transferred, except in cases of a foreign account. The new electronic services are operating in a pilot mode. However, paper applications and personal visits to branches remain available to all residents of the country.
